The Collective is located at Post Office Square in the heart of the Brisbane CBD; and is an innovative retail precinct designed as a multigenerational space. The Collective will aim to combat loneliness and connect users. The space is bright and inviting where all user groups have everything they require at their fingertips such as chemists, food stalls, retail shops, cafes, bookstores, restaurants and multifunctional spaces.

The intent for this design is to take retail precincts as they are known and change them to create a space that will appeal to all demographics but most importantly the elderly. The Collective is a place for the elderly to come where all design considerations have been made to make it a space where they can feel safe and comfortable. This retail precinct will bring back exceptional customer service and show the importance of human interaction while offering a cohesive, relaxing space. A collaboration with Goodstart Early Learning, as well as offering Tai Chi classes aims to

connect different age groups thus promote overall mental and health improvements to all age groups involved. There will be spaces for multifunctional rooms where people can make bookings for group activities. The Collective will combat loneliness by bringing people together and create a community feeling.

Tai Chi classes and the relationship with the childcare centre will create a purpose for the elderly and give them the facilities to build relationships within the community. By doing so it aims to make them feel wanted and needed as well as increasing their quality of life.
