The 'Handbag', is a short film based on fashion identity and consumption. The star of the film, Mary Poppins undergoes the process of finding her true identity which is shown through the numerous items she pulls from her bag. The plot progression is derived from Poppins pulling items from her bag; every time she grabs an item, her clothing changes. The first item is an orange, which the audience can see to be the catalyst of the character development. The second item consists of two martini glasses, the third item being an umbrella, and the last item being a bunch of flowers. The end of the film shows her sitting surrounded by all of the objects fully costumed in her final 'look' which demonstrates how clothing is expressive of identity.
